The inaugural ‘Dubai Festival of Lights’ kicks off, pleasing attendees with spectacular lighting and artistic installations

Organised by Emaar Properties, the event running in partnership with the City of Lyon's Festival of Lights, features environmentally-friendly LED lighting, that transforms Emaar's Downtown Dubai development.

The main spectacle is a specially commissioned piece by fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac called 'Metropolis Mirage', which lights up the bridge at Souk Al Bahar. In an exclusive interview with Buro 24/7 Middle East, Castelbajac revealed that the installation was inspired by one of his fashion show sets designed to mirror an Emerald forest in Brazil.

The festival features a mix of spectacular works by artists, engineers, designers, and architects, who have each created spectacles ranging from themed installations to video mapping, and lighted sculptures to interactive pieces.
