Dubai is ranked the 4th best destination for travellers
According to the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index
Dubai has another reason to celebrate, as it is crowed the 4th best destination for international travellers according to the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index. The UAE city was beaten only by London, which topped the list for 2015, Bangkok and Paris.
The Expo 2020 host city has jumped four places, after being crowned the 8th of the same list in 2012. The Global Destination Cities Index provides a ranking of the 132 most visited cities around the world and according to this recent report Dubai will welcome close to 14.3 million international visitors in 2015 (which is an increase of 8 percent over last year.)
"Dubai has continued to climb the ranks as an international travel destination for both business and leisure purposes," said Eyad Al Kourdi, country manager for the UAE at MasterCard.
"The future ranking of the Emirate looks very promising. As Dubai gears towards Expo 2020, we're excited to see the opportunities that will unfold to reinforce its position as a key economic driver."
And Dubai isn't the only UAE city in the spotlight – whilst it continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in the list's global top ten, UAE capital Abu Dhabi has cause to celebrate too as it is declared the third fastest-growing destination city overall between 2009 and 2015.
