The announcement comes as a surprise after authorities last week scrapped the project

The delayed plans to build an indoor theme park have now been given the green light, the theme park will include a full size ice area and indoor ski slope. This comes after the regions first indoor ski resort - Ski Dubai at Mall of the Emirates, which was built in 2005 costing around $400 million.

This project has been in discussion for quite a while and was almost scrapped entirely regarding authorities concern it would damage key sewage and water networks at the site.

The theme park will be located at the Muharraq Grand Garden, near Bahrain International Airport. It will also consist of a three storey shopping centre, business centre, indoor sports arena, outdoor pitches, aquatic museum, karting track, mosque and an elderly home.

Work is scheduled to begin in February of this year and should take two and half years to complete.
