Angelina Jolie wins humanitarian Oscar
Joined by Steve Martin, Angela Lansbury and Piero Tosi
Expanding her current collection of gongs, as well as another Oscar for the film Girl, Interrupted more than 10 years ago – the actress was not being honoured last night not for a movie role but for her humanitarian work.
The 5th annual Governors Awards for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honoured four winners: Steve Martin, Angela Lansbury and Italian costume designer Piero Tosi – who was awarded the Oscar for career achievement in film, plus Jolie's recognition for her charitable initiatives, which she received from director George Lucas.

Upon receiving the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the ceremony, the Oscar winner thanked Brad Pitt, among others, saying, "My love. Your support and your guidance make everything I do possible."
The actress, wearing Atelier Versace, was accompanied by Pitt and their son, Maddox.
Before she took the stage, veteran actress Gena Rowland and George Lucas both took time to talk about Jolie's philanthropic contributions.
