The Ace Hotel have announced a unique and pioneering new way to provide a creative stay for its guests – partnering up with 12 writers to offer bespoke notes for those who spend the night at its New York City branch...

The Ace Hotel, New York City, has announced a new creative incentive for its overnight guests – drafting in 12 international writers to pen bespoke notes for its patrons. The new collaborative project, titled 'Dear Reader' will see acclaimed writers from all over the world compiling special notes for Ace Hotel guests.

Famed fiction writer and journalist Alexander Chee will head the new project, selecting a new writer each month throughout 2015 to pen the special notes for Ace Hotel guests. Writers Dale Peck, Kiese Laymon, Sigrid Nunez, Chinelo Okparanta and Atticus Lish have been confirmed for the short-residencies so far.

Each writer will spend the night at the Ace Hotel "exploring the edges, insides and glory of the epistolary format." During the stay, the writers will pen an open letter to an imagined audience of hotel guests and then – on a random date the following month – the bespoke letters will be laid bedside in each room, hand-stamped and numbered.
