Abu Dhabi to launch luxurious Mercedes taxis
The UAE'S slick new fleet
This week, Mohamed Darwish Al Qamzi, director general of the Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars (TransAD), announced the new Mercedes cars are part of TransAD's efforts to provide integrated transport services that support the needs of the entire community.
Mr Al Qamzi told Al Ittihad – the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National – that as a trail period, the new fleet will consist of Mercedes Vito cars similar to airport taxis that have been introduced, and can also carry those with special needs.
He also added that the new cars could become a fixture in the emirate transportation scene. The new taxis accommodate five passengers in the back while the front seat will be used for luggage.
