Heston Blumenthal to open British cafe at Heathrow's Terminal 2
The Perfectionists' Cafe
From June 4 this year, members of the public at London Heathrow's Terminal 2 will be able to dine at celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal's newest restaurant, The Perfectionists' Cafe.
The venue will cater to the demands of travellers by presenting the best quality food and interesting dining concepts — from which Blumenthal gained his creative culinary reputation.
"The demands of an airport outlet are quite different from our other restaurants," Blumenthal has said, "Some guests will have very little time to spend with us and others, in transit or with longer check-ins, will have time to linger for longer. The restaurant will of course cater to both, but we want to deliver food that is fun and familiar — food that is stimulating to the palate and at the same time easy to enjoy."
Best known for praised restaurant The Fat Duck in Bray and Dinner in London's Mandarin Oriental hotel, the chef's latest eatery will dispense of the formal setting seen at those two venues, creating a more relaxed ambience for The Perfectionists' Cafe.
The interior design will be go back to the heyday of 1960's passenger flights, when air travel was deemed glamorous and luxurious with travellers dressed in their best to fly.
The biggest aspect of Blumenthal's latest venue will be the menu, which will feature classic British favourites, including traditional fish and chips made with the "ultimate crunchy batter" – as well as pizza which will be cooked in the airport's first wood-burning oven.
