Welcome to Chateau Louis XIV, the most expensive home in the world
Middle Eastern owner
Château Louis XIV has sold for a record price of Dhs1.1 billion. According to sources quoted by Bloomberg, the mansion was sold to a Middle Eastern buyer who requested anonymity. The staggering price is a significant jump from the previous record of Dhs735 million, which was recorded for a penthouse in London in 2011.
Located on the outskirts of Paris, the home was 'developed as an inspiration of the magnificent classical palaces built throughout the reign of the eponymous king'. It sits on over 50 acres of landscaped grounds and took over three years to build.
The luxury abode includes two master suites, a grand reception room, two custom-made artisanal kitchens, an entire floor for recreational activities, a cinema as well as the only underground aquarium in Europe.
True to its luxe status, celebrities have also been known to visit the home with Kim Kardashian and Balmain's Olivier Rousteing spotted taking selfies in 2014.
