Louis Vuitton for Cassina at Salon del Mobile
Fashion and furniture pay homage to Charlotte Perriand
This week, during the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Louis Vuitton will share with Cassina its admiration for Charlotte Perriand as they present 'Charlotte Perriand une icône de la modernité' (Charlotte Perriand an icon of modernity), an installation honouring one of the most pioneering architects of the 20th century.
Louis Vuitton chose the avant-garde style of Perriand as in inspiration for its Icons Collections Spring/Summer 14 and Fall/Winter 14/15, using the artist's minimalist style and has infused it with its collection and new installation with Cassina.
The comprehensive project which combines furnishings, fashion and photography to honour the artist is also the world premier of new editions of Cassina, including the iconic chaise-longue LC4 CP – which was made in 1000 pieces – originally created by by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand.
The piece of furniture was developed with the expertise of Louis Vuitton for the upholstery, featuring the same freestanding mattress as the first model, but in natural leather while the footrest and headrest are in a contrasting dark brown leather.
The piece also bears the dedication "Hommage de Cassina à Charlotte Perriand à l'occasion de la Collection Icones 2014 de Louis Vuitton".
