A new library in Mexico that doubles up as a playground

Quiet recreation

In Conarte, Monterrey, there is now a fun library that offers more than just reading books, and it's thanks to its unique geometric architecture...

Created by Monterrey-based branding agency Anagrama, the new library was designed to encourage children to read and learn in a vibrant setting. The library was commissioned by Nuevo León’s Regional Council for Culture and Art, and was built in Fundidora Park, a former steelworks and foundry-turned-complex that now holds gardens, museums, theme parks, convention centers and auditoriums.

The bold design of the space reflects the mountainous terrain of Monterrey as Anagrama takes into consideration the library’s location. The geometric shelves act as a storage area for the books as well a play area, whilst being covered in carpeting, which makes it easy and safe for children to climb.
