Dubai's Jumeirah Corniche project awarded Dhs100 million construction contract
Planned to open in November
On Saturday, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) endorsed the awarding of a Dhs100 million construction contract for the Jumeirah Corniche Development Project, which is scheduled to open November of this year.
Dubai's longest beachfront project plans to become a haven for young families, athletes and health enthusiasts as a 14-kilometre of walkway and jogging track will be built along Jumeirah's residential beachside.
The new project also hopes to encourage the residents and tourists of Dubai to adapt a healthier and more active lifestyle.
"This urban project is undertaken in response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make people happier," said Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the board and executive director of the RTA, "Sheikh Mohammad considers sport a key element in building the community and having healthy individuals capable of adding to the development drive."
Construction on the Jumeirah Corniche Development Project is already underway, and will be the longest corniche in the emirate, as well as linking with the $545m Dubai Canal Project.
