American architects Mithun debut its sustainable treehouse

This green getaway – situated in the Summit Bechtel reserve in West Virginina –  features tree trunks in place of steel columns and organic leafy canopies for rooftops and was commissioned by the boy scouts of America and the Living Building Challenge to serve as 'a unique icon of camp adventure, environmental stewardship and innovative building design.'

The structure is simultaneously green and sustainable whilst being educational for the boy scouts and children. Photovoltaic panels and QR5 wind generators are the sources of energy on site, whilst a large cistern collects and cleanses the water.
