Dubai Design District is on the hunt for the next iconic regional architectural feat. Think you have what it takes? Here's what you need to know...

Dubai Design Week has just announced the opening for submissions for the fourth edition of its Urban Commissions project. This year, the theme for the structure is water — fitting given that we're surrounded by it here in the emirate from the beaches to the Canal to the Creek

The call is for budding designers to submit designs for an "urban water feature that can be placed in the outdoor arena of Dubai Design District (d3)" with a deadline of January 30, 2018. Whilst no exact specifications have been given, the sculpture can be "a pond, birdbath, fountain or any design that invites people to gather around water" and "must be capable of being entirely manufactured in the UAE within a budget of Dhs50,000."

Once submitted, the designs will then be evaluated by a select panel of judges (whose identities are yet to be revealed) and the winner will be revealed at Dubai Design Week 2018. Watch this space.
