Designs of the Year 2014: Shortlist announced
76 nominations from around the world
This year's 76 nominations for Designs of the Year have have been revealed by the Design Museum in London, including a floating school in Nigeria, a mobile phone made out of detachable blocks, lamps which are hand woven from strips of discarded plastic bottles and a children's wheelchair that grows with the child.
The design categories range from architecture, product, furniture, fashion, graphic, digital and transport, and include renowned architects including Zaha Hadid, David Chipperfield and John Pawson plus global designers such as Rick Owens, Tracey Neuls, and Dubai-based label DAS Collection by Reem and Hind Beljafla.
All of the nominations for this year's Designs of the Year will be shown in an exhibition at the Design Museum in London from March 26 to August 25, with the winners of each category and one overall winner to be announced later in the year.
