Design guide: Home luxury from Salone del Mobile 2017
Louis Vuitton, Versace, Hermes
The world's design fraternity is in Milan for the 2017 edition of Salone del Mobile and the names in the industry are debuting their latest creations, from French luxury houses Louis Vuitton and Hermès to Italian label Versace and Dutch furniture collective Moooi. These are the must-have luxury pieces you need in your home now...
Louis Vuitton's Objets Nomades collection
Five years after its inception, Louis Vuitton's travel-inspired Objets Nomades collection is now 25-pieces strong, thanks to the addition of 10 new pieces at this year's fair by some of the most renowned designers. Highlights include the Palaver chair by Patricia Urquiola, the collapsible chair by Raw Edges and Bomboca sofa by the Campana Brothers.
Versace's Shadov chair
Versace has taken its iconic Medusa silhouette and shaped it to form the back of a new elegant chair. Available in wood along with a host of leather finishes and colours – think red, green, grey and cloud – the chair offers understated luxury contrasted with industrial elements courtesy of the finely-finished metal legs.
Hermès' Karumi stool
Mixing bamboo and carbon fibre, Hermès' artisans have created a minimalistic three-legged stool, based on the design of Pritzker-winning architect Alvaro Siza. The combination of materials allows for a reinforcing of the otherwise fragile material without compromising on the light and airy aesthetic.
Moooi's Canal Chair
Designed by Luca Nichetto, the Canal Chair draws inspiration from the bows of Venetian boats and fuses Italian tradition with contemporary stylings. Various options for the legs, from wood to metal, alongside colourful embroidery and fabric options for the seat, allows for customisation and perfect accompaniment to any décor theme.
