The Australian Institute of Architects unveils its 2014 shortlist
From urban design to sustainable architecture
With a total of 13 categories ranging from commercial architecture to heritage spaces, the AIA has released the shortlist for the 2014 National Architecture Awards which include a rainforest in Malaysia and a restaurant that was built inside an old Sydney police station.
Among the 61 unique projects, is a school of architecture in Queensland and a hotel made from timber planks also made the shortlist for the AIA's annual awards – which recognises architecture from each Australian city, as well as buildings by Australian architects abroad.
The overall winners will be selected from each of the categories on November 6 at a ceremony at the Darwin Convention Centre.
