While the recent Geneva Motor Show unveiled a shot of new cars, Buro 24/7 Middle East instead pays tribute to an automotive icon.

From the Mulsanne to the Flying Spur and the newly released Bentayga, the Bentley name is synonymous with luxury. Nevertheless, there is one line in the Bentley stable that seems to have combined plushness with performance in equal measures: the Continental GT.

The R Type Continental and Continental GT Speed

Since its inception in 1952, the famed Continental GT has been setting speed records for decades, most recently in 2015 when an Idris Elba-driven Continental GT Speed smashed the UK's 'Flying Mile' record, rewriting a record that has remained unchanged for almost 100 years.

The Continental GT has evolved through the years, from the fastest four-seater car in the '50s to the elegant and chic machine that it is today. However, its DNA, particularly its signature design lines, has always been preserved, creating a new icon for every generation.

"Today's Continental elegantly fulfils the same grand-touring brief as its forebear," said Robin Peel, Head of Marketing and Communications, International, Bentley Motors. "It has immense W12 power, a top speed of 331kmh/h and an unsurpassed ability to cross continents in total comfort."
