Mini reveal its radical new pick-up truck concept
The British car undergoes a unique transformation
The Paceman Adventure is a new four-wheel drive Mini concept which has had its rear area replaced with a cargo area, and is powered by the same 181bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged engine as the Cooper S Paceman All4. It has been designed for transporting equipment across gravel roads, muddy tracks and desert terrain.
The latest edition Paceman was created by Mini design apprentices in Munich and unveiled by the manufacturer this week. However, this is not the first Mini pick-up created, the iconic car was similarly converted into a commercial vehicle between 1961 and 1982, however the Paceman Adventure dwarves its original inspiration in performance and size.
The creative engineers behind the impressive car also fitted the Paceman Adventure with a snorkel-style air filter that allows the pickup truck to drive through water.
The pick-up has a modified chassis with extended ground clearance and escalated front and rear clearance ramps. It also has additional lights mounted on the roof rack, to boost visibility at night, with special off-road tires designed to improve traction.
