Lamborghini turns down Arab investment offer
Remains with Volkswagen Group
Italian luxury carmaker Lamborghini has rejected requests from Arab investors who were interested in buying the company, preferring to remain part of German parent company Volkswagen.
The iconic firm, celebrated its 50th anniversary last year while announcing the retirement of the popular Lamborghini Gallardo, to be replaced with the new Lamborghini Huracán, which will go into production this year as well as being unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The Volkswagen Group, is a very proud and big family of automobiles, manufacturing many iconic motor brands including: Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Porsche and Škoda. The German manufacturers bought Lamborghini in 1998, President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said one reason the company has declined offers from potential Arab investors is because he sees the company's future success, remaining under the same roof of the German company:
"We feel very well inside the Volkswagen Group and this is something which is key for the success. Future markets will be more complex so the group is what is going to make the difference in the future." said Winkelmann.
