Lewis Hamilton stars in new Mercedes-Benz fashion film
With Nico Rosberg and Dree Hemingway
The annual tradition of the Mercedes-Benz fashion video has received a turbo injection of star power, seeing this year's production featuring both of the UK-based Mercedes AMG Petronas team stars – Lewis Hamilton and teammate Nico Rosberg – who are joined by model and actress Dree Hemingway.
The decision to feature the F1 drivers is undoubtedly an act of celebration of the one-two win the duo achieved in the driver's championship during the last championships, which was filled with a heated rivalry between the teammates. Hamilton ultimately finished the tournament in the top-spot with Rosberg taking second.
Mercedes-Benz called upon photographer and film director – Collier Schorr to shoot the short film, which plays on the competitive spirit of the drivers against the back drop of the Sindelfingen wind-tunnel, where Mercedes' designs are rigorously tested against the forces of nature – and where the suggestion of an off the books score-settler might taking place.
Hamilton and Rosberg look sharp in Hugo Boss tuxedos, a sartorial step-up from the usual racing overalls, as they each take the wheel of elite Mercedes-Benz models (1970s Gullwing Mercedes-Benz C111 and a brand new Mercedes-AMG GT respectively). As the drivers look ready to put the pedal to the metal, Hemingway sheds her drivers-overalls to reveal a black leather dress and ankle strap sandals, as she takes her position at the starting line, set to give the racers their green light, all the while looking elegant and unfazed by the industrial wind-tunnel.
