Visitors and residents in London will soon be able to hire cars as easily as the famed 'Boris bikes' service

Multi-billionaire Vincent Bolloré has revealed plans to bring an electric car sharing service to London by 2015, allowing people to book cars for short journeys between parking points around the city – in a similar way to the existing "Boris bikes" service already running in the UK capital.

The entrepreneur launched a successful version of this in Paris called Autolib and plans to introduce 100 "bluecars" to London initially, and later expand to around 3000 vehicles once the service is rolled out across all of the main London locations.

Transport for London and Mayor Boris Johnson have both expressed their support for the idea.
