Meet the electric scooter that can fully recharge faster than your phone
The Ather S340
Scooter fans can look forward to a new economical and eco-friendly design, thanks to two mechanical technology graduates from Madras India. Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain have designed the Ather S340 – a fully electric scooter that can reach speeds of up to 70 km-per-hour and it's battery can fully charge in just one hour:
"It is faster than your mobile charging time," says Mehta, one of the creators. "Our batteries go on for 50,000 kilometres, and can easily last for five to six years ... People want a better product. [The customer] should get a sense that he is buying the electric version of his favourite petrol scooter."
What's more, it also features a built-in navigation system with a touchscreen interface. The technical accessories are also able to connect and synch with Android devices. The Ather S340 is expected to hit the market in 2016 and the company predict sales of over one million units by 2020.
