Buro 24/7 Exclusive: A look inside Dubai's first Four Seasons hotel
Buro 24/7 Middle East takes an exclusive tour
Encompassing 237 rooms and 49 suites, The Four Seasons Dubai Resort in Jumeirah instantly stands out. Surrounded by a green oasis and eight ancient olive trees, the palatial hotel evokes a Mediterranean vibe, perhaps hinting at the pleasures of the palate to come...
Addressing the Middle Eastern love of privacy, The Four Seasons decided to work on a series of secluded concepts especially tailored for the region, including a private gentlemans-only club and day villas for local families who want to experience the leisure facilities on offer privately.
What is so unique about the hotel is that it's the perfect hybrid destination – close enough to Dubai's financial district, DIFC and the world-famous Dubai Mall, yet a stones-throw from the beach. Meaning that tourists may no longer need to weigh up whether to stay in one of Dubai's beach hotels vs a hotel closer placed to the shopping and action of Dubai's Downtown district.
At five stories, Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach is comparatively low rise amid the city’s soaring towers, in keeping with the surrounding coastal community.
“Our Resort is an intimately scaled, luxurious enclave of comfort and style. Throughout, guests can expect highly personalized service that is consistent with Four Seasons hotels and resorts around the world.” Commented Simon Casson, Four Seasons' regional vice president and general manager.
Casson has been with the business for 25 years, and the housekeeping staff have over 20 years of Four Seasons experience under their belts, so service-wise one expects great things from The Four Seasons Dubai Resort in Jumeirah.
Foodies will be excited to learn of the 'restaurant village' contained within the green walls, as our guide explains that there will be two restaurant concepts by Zuma, a Jean Georges eatery, a juicing bar, and a live ice cream station headed by the hotel's French chef who has a background in Italian gelato. A New York nightclub called Provocateur will launch when the hotel opens and the hotel also has a one-of-a-kind coffee machine:
"We have this coffee machine which is the only one in Dubai and it was created by an American family, which were based in Costa Rica for some time and they wanted to create a machine that ground the coffee perfectly and they managed to come up with this. We can actually sell this by the kilo as well for anyone who wants to take some home with them, it is fantastic."
Outside, flanked by Dubai's longest stretch of natural beachfront, a beautiful fire pit takes centre stage whilst an adults-only pool sparkles in the background. The pool is managed by a lovely gentleman called Sameed and his team, who will provide "hourly surprises" for guests, unless you press the 'do not disturb' button on the remote that every sun bed is equipped with:
"If you want something from the bar or any food you can just press the button on the remote, which will send them to you to reply to your request. If you haven't pressed 'do not disturb' the team will bring something every hour, whether it is an amenity or drinks... Just a nice surprise that you would want whilst hanging out by a pool. You will never be thirsty."
A Royal Suite, which is 2 weeks away from completion, features a private spa, a gym, and separate entrances for staff, so you never actually see who is cooking for you, unless you want to get involved in the kitchen: "It is almost as though we have created a mini version of the hotel inside one suite, it is just fantastic and great for the Arab community who prefer privacy."
The Four Seasons Dubai Resort will also debut a new seafood concept right on the beach –making it the closest beach side restaurant to DIFC and Downtown when it opens. Of course seafood always tastes better overlooking the sea, and guests can enjoy seafood cooked western and Asian-style by the Vietnamese French chef when it debuts December 1.
