Top 5: Things to do this weekend in the UAE
"A bored person is a boring person" – Or so the anonymous saying goes, and to find yourself bored on the weekend in the UAE is frankly unacceptable.
There is an endless list of experiences you can try throughout Abu Dhabi and Dubai, hotspots to head for to avoid the heat, and one we feel quite strongly about – new tastes to savour. Thankfully, you have the Buro 24/7 team on hand to help with ways to make you feel good about life this Friday through Saturday... You're welcome.
Try Jones the Grocer's 'Coconut Porridge'
To say that this is a favourite at the Buro 24/7 office would be something of an understatement. Senior Editor Elle and Editor-in-Chief Holly have ordered the delightful, coconut milk-infused concoction almost every day this past week. Healthy enough (almost) to feel no guilt, and yummy enough to trick yourself into feeling as though you are eating a naughty dessert – we highly recommend you try this on your next Jones The Grocer visit.
Burn some calories at Bounce
If you haven't heard of Bounce we yet we can only assume you have been hibernating in a dark cave. Popping up on all the cool kids' Instagram handles, Bounce has enjoyed a pretty positive launch in Dubai – marking the city's first ever indoor trampoline experience. Buro 24/7 recommends booking an early morning spot to beat the crowds and taking it easy – bouncing is super fun, but can easily cause injury.
Have dinner at Eat Greek
The Beach at JBR has literally gone from zero to hero: Nothing, to 20 plus restaurants. Eat Greek is one of our absolute favourites. Buro 24/7 recommends ordering the baked feta, meatballs and – of course – Tzatziki immediately upon sitting down (you can thank us later). Tip: ask for the off-menu pastry and custard breakfast dish the chef will be adding to the restaurant's menu in a few weeks time.
Spend the day at Monte Carlo Beach Club
One of the UAE's best beach clubs to visit, Monte Carlo Beach in Abu Dhabi is an idyllic place to spend the day in the sun. Go big and order a private cabana, sup watermelon juice in the pool and do not leave without trying the restaurant's incredible Burrata salad.
Watch the new Planet of the Apes movie VIP style
We think a pretty perfect Friday or Saturday evening would involve a trip to the aforementioned Eat Greek restaurant, before a starry night walk over to The Beach's Reel Cinema to catch the new Planet of the Apes movie. Of course, we would only go VIP – an experience that has to be had to be loved: A bell to ring the waiter? Personal pillows and blankets? A lazy boy that would make Joey from Friends jealous? Yes please.
