Sneak peek: Omega's Speedmaster timepieces for Baselworld '17
Of heritage and cappuccino
Swiss watchmaker Omega looks set to expand its famed Speedmaster series with two new debuts at the upcoming Baselworld '17: the Speedmaster 38mm and the Speedmaster Automatic. While the former is a showcase of the brand's mastery with both horology and jewellery, the latter pays homage to the design of the early Speedmaster timepiece in the '60s.
Nicknamed Cappuccino, the refined Speedmaster 38mm ladies watch features a brown colour palette contrasted against a stainless steel case and 18-karat Sedna gold bezel and pushers. The bezel outer rim is lined with diamonds while the inner circle is equipped with a tachymeter scale, allowing an aesthetical fusion of both elegance and sportiness.
Meanwhile, the new 44.25mm Speedmaster Automatic shares design DNA with the iconic 1968 Speedmaster model, specifically the technical time-keeping elements on the matt-black dial. Sharing the spotlight are the bright orange markings as well as the white gold indexes, all of which have been treated with white Super-LumiNova to ensure readability in low light conditions.
Baselworld '17 will run from March 23-30. Also, discover Tag Heuer's Baselworld '17 novelties.
