SIHH 2017 spotlight: Montblanc
More synonymous with art and music, Montblanc is taking a detour in 2017 with the unveiling of new sports-inspired models in the TimeWalker Collection. Drawing on the rich racing heritage of its Minerva manufacturing division, Montblanc's new chronograph timepieces are a combination of technical ingenuity, masculinity, performance and style.
Each element on the 43mm watches were designed to reflect the racing culture in the early 1900s when Minerva first gained prominence as an innovative timekeeper. Key aesthetic codes include the flanks to signify aerodynamics, the crown that mimics olden car caps as well as the holes in the strap, which reminds us of the quintessential leather racing gloves.
The standout timepiece amongst the new unveilings is the Rally Timer Counter Limited Edition 100, not only because of its bigger 5omm case but also its ability to be converted quickly into a pocket watch. Further to that, it sits on a table courtesy of two hidden arms under the case.
