SIHH 2017 spotlight: Bovet
195th anniversary special
It's a milestone year for Bovet and to celebrate, the watchmaker has unveiled two special timepieces: the Virtuoso VIII and the Récital 19 Miss Dimier. The two new watches are part of the Fleurier and Dimier collections respectively and while the former focuses more on artisanship, the latter is a display of technological ingenuity.
Guided by three main principles – reliability, chronometry and decorative arts – the Virtuoso VIII is limited to only 80 pieces and will be created with a red gold, white gold or platinum case. The new flag bearer in the Fleurier collection features a flying tourbillon as well as two symmetrical dials, one of which tells the hours and minutes while the other displays the date, which can be adjusted quickly by pressing the crown, uniquely located at the top instead of the conventional side placement.
Meanwhile, the Récital 19 Miss Dimier is owner Pascal Raffy's tribute to women. With a 20 per cent size reduction compared to its peers, the new timepiece is a perfect showcase of horological femininity, enhanced even more by the 52 round-cut diamonds that encircle the steel case. A further 12 pieces of diamonds feature in the dial which is divided into the sating-brushed core and the lacquered outer ring. To round off the touch of delicate femininity, the minute and second hands of the Récital 19 Miss Dimier form a perfect heart shape each time they pass one another.
