Christie’s will auction off this royal-owned timepiece during its Dubai Watch Auction…

How much is this timepiece getting auctioned for?!
Christie's annual Watch Auction is set to run next month and we've already got an idea of what to expect...

Every year, Christie’s gathers watch connoisseurs from around the world to view exclusive horology masterpieces during its Dubai Watch Auction. With one month to go until its 2018 edition, we’ve got a sneak peek at one timeless treasure that is up for auction.

Christie’s is set to offer a personalised Patek Philippe Reference 1518 watch, which was originally owned by King Farouk of Egypt, who was also the great-great-grandson of  Muhammed Ali.

Known to be a renowned collector of luxury timepieces, King Farouk of Egypt’s Patek Philippe timepiece was originally launched in 1941 and was just one of the only 281 pieces created.

Artistically crafted and personalised with unique engraving on the case back of the Royal Crown of Egypt, with its star, half-moon and initial “F”, the timepiece is the first perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch produced in series by any watch company at the time (no wonder why it’s pre-sale estimate is between Dhs1.4 million to Dhs2.9 million).

Speaking of the timepiece, Remy Julia, Head of Watches for Christie’s Middle East, India, and Africa, explained: “King Farouk’s Patek Phillipe Reference 1518 is a crowning element of Christie’s Dubai watch sale next month — it is a storied piece with provenance from the Middle Eastern region and is already attracting tremendous interest from the region and beyond.”

Christie’s Dubai Watch Auction will run on March 23, 2018, however, around 180 watches will be available for the public to view from March 19 until the day of the auction.
