The dependency on information technology is so high that even a Swiss watchmaker like Tag Heuer cannot help but embrace it

Gents, Tag Heuer has unveiled its Connected Smartwatch, the first in its non-traditional collection. Inspired by the popular Carrera pieces, the watch measures 46.2mm across and 12.8mm thick and will run the Android Wear operating system. Having said that, the watch is compatible with iOS devices.

Despite being part of the Swiss watchmaker's impressive collection, the Connected watch however will not be branded as 'Swiss-made' because many of its components, including the Intel chip, is made elsewhere.

Featuring tailor-made watch faces as well exclusive sports apps like golfing and motor-racing, the watch's other appeal is that it empowers the owner to exchange the watch for a mechanical one at a later date, for an additional fee of course.

The Tag Heuer Connected Smartwatch is Dhs5,350 and it is set to be available in the market from December. Online, only the black bracelets are currently available.
