Sneak peek: Omega's pre-Basel reveal
From the moon to the sea
OMEGA has announced that it will unveil two new timepieces at the upcoming Baselworld: the Speedmaster Moonphase Chronograph Master Chronometer and Planet Ocean 600M Master Chronometer. The Speedmaster, more commonly known as the first watch worn on the moon by Buzz Aldrin, has been updated with a moonphase within its blue dial, flanked by two sub-dials to create a balanced visual persona. Another notable achievement in the new watch is the tachymeter, which is made using liquid metal for the first time in the series. A blue leather strap complements the dial perfectly ensuring an understated elegance matched with masculinity.
OMEGA is also launching a women's watch that combines two of Switzerland's most iconic identifiers: watches and chocolates. The Planet Ocean 600M Master Chronometer features an abundant use of 18k gold, from the case to the hands and even on the clasp. The deep brown colour is complemented by the even darker brown tone of the dial as well as the bezel. Then in keeping with the modern trend, the new timepiece is fitted with a sapphire crystal caseback to offer a window to the complex movement.
Baselworld 2016 will run from March 17-24, 2016. OMEGA's Speedmaster Moonphase Chronograph Master Chronometer and Planet Ocean 600M Master Chronometer watches will be available in 2016.
