Kate Winslet visits Longines' Saint-Imier
British actress Kate Winslet paid a visit to the Longines headquarters in Saint-Imier recently. Winslet has been the brand's Ambassador of Elegance since 2010, but her visit to Switzerland marks her first time at the head office — the birthplace of the brand in 1832.
During the visit, the Oscar winner witnessed firsthand the creative and detailed processes that go into the creation of a single Longines timepiece. Winslet also handpicked a watch from the maison's flagship collection, which will be re-issued and whose proceeds will go to Winslet's non-profit organisation, the Golden Hat Foundation. Founded in 2010, the organisation seeks to address and change the perception of autism.
"I was delighted to learn that Longines is so in touch with its rich history, from which it draws inspiration for creating new works of art that adhere to its values," said Winslet. "I am deeply grateful to Longines for the support they have shown for the Golden Hat Foundation, an organisation that is dear to my heart, by re-issuing the watch that I have chosen today. It makes me incredibly proud to be able to contribute to raising public awareness of the situation that face individuals with autism. I believe that these individuals will greatly benefit from the possibility of learning to communicate, of receiving academic training and of developing real social relationships," she continued.
