Chanel's Jardin de Camélias private dinner under the Burj Khalifa
At The Venue, Downtown Dubai
In celebration of the Jardin de Camélias fine jewellery collection, Chanel Middle East played host to a chic intimate dinner in Downtown Dubai this week – flying in a chef from Paris and installing over 30,000 plants to create a pop up garden at The Venue especially for the occasion.
The evening began with a guided tour of the Chanel 'Camélias' installation – led through a beautiful corridor covered in greenery, Buro 24/7 Middle East were guided to the stunning Jardin de Camélias fine jewellery collection – presented without the usual glass boxes and restrictive casings. This is the first time that the entire collection has been presented together as a whole, and the exhibition is viewable by appointment today and tomorrow before it moves to label's boutique at The Dubai Mall for a short period.
The pop up event took a small army of staff and over a week to put together, and the garden is on loan from a nursery – after which the plants, flowers and shrubs are being returned, adding an eco-friendly balance to the extravagance.
Following on from viewing the stunning pieces, Buro 24/7 Middle East were guided to a garden conservatory where dinner was set for 40 guests, featuring a signature menu by the chef, each dish inspired by Jardin de Camélias. To start came an edible garden of flowers, vegetables and fresh truffle, followed by sole fish on a silver 'hatelet' accompanied by miniature stuffed vegetables and verbena sauce. The pièce de résistance? An artwork of dessert – a single iced flower with 'garden flavours'; litchi sherbet, lime parfait and fresh raspberries.
Chanel will continue celebration of the collection with a private cocktail party at the pop up venue this evening, before the proceedings move on and travel the world – from the Chanel jewellery boutique in Dubai to another exhibition location.
