In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Baselworld's future is looking a little uncertain...

A slew of luxury labels have decided to quit Baselworld and opted for new establishments — think Chanel, TAG Heuer, Hublot and Zenith — and with the future of the annual jewellery and watch trade show up in the air, there'll be some time before we see another edition.

Rescheduled for January 28 to February 2, 2021, the next Baselworld edition will now not be held. The MCH Group (which owns and operates the annual Baselworld jewellery and watch trade show), has decided to cancel the trade fair in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the mass exit of its most important watch exhibitors.

In a statement issued, "I welcome the constructive attitude of the representatives of the MCH Group, which has enabled us to find a balanced solution," says Hubert J. du Plessix, president of the Swiss Exhibitors' Committee and director of Rolex. "I would also like to thank Patek Philippe, Rolex, Tudor, Chanel, Chopard, Hublot, Zenith and Tag Heuer, who, in a spirit of solidarity with the sector as a whole, have agreed to a lower refund so that the other exhibitors can benefit from better conditions."

The MCH Group is still working towards holding some sort of fair (maybe in a new format) in 2021 or 2022.

Now, take a look at how celebrity piercer Maria Tash is spending her time in self-isolation.
