Chanel is set to deliver the ultimate in haute horology with a whole host of new offerings this year.

Luxury fashion house Chanel will launch a variety of novelties at the upcoming Baselworld 2016. In all, five different new collections will make their debuts, each one showcasing the maison's intricate artistry. Buro 24/7 Middle East has the first look at the new timepieces.

Mademoiselle Prive

The collection brings together a team of the finest craftsmen to create mechanical artworks. Utilising the ancient Egyptian technique of glyptic, the artisans masterfully shape the precious stones, resulting in an accurate portrayal of the subject, which in this case are birds. With more than 100 hours put in to produce a single dial, the collection truly reflects Chanel's obsession with quality and detail.

Taking inspiration from the octagonal N°5 bottle-stopper, the Premiere was the first watch Chanel created specially for women, making its debut in 1987. With recent technological enhancements added to the iconic piece, including the Camelia Flying Tourbillon calibre, the timepiece has moved from being just a women's watch to being the women's timepiece. The new 2016 line features two coloured leather ribbons — pink and turquoise, with each one limited to only 1000 pieces.

Les Eternelles de Chanel

Displaying mastery in the art of jewellery watchmaking, the collection is an ode to Chanel's signature quilting design. Here, diamonds take centrestage with the dial well hidden beneath either a 5.26-carat briolette diamond or a 43.66-carat pink morganite.

For the woman who desires a touch of masculinity to her watch, the BOY.FRIEND collection, with its strong crisp lines and octagonal shape, would seem the perfect fit. Softening that extra dose of masculinity is the generous amount of diamonds that surround the case. Simple, clean and luxuriously understated, this is indeed the statement piece for the modern woman.

The J12 has evolved into one of Chanel's most popular watch collections, with the courage to push the limits of both fashion and functionality. Known as the first watch to turn humble ceramic into high-end watchmaking material, the J12 2016 line keeps things young and playful yet retains all of the chicness that is synonymous with the brand.
