Van Cleef & Arpels' exclusive Middle East timepiece
Enchanting, ethereal, exquisite: These words best describe Van Cleef & Arpels' showcase of new timepieces at SIHH 2017. Nevertheless, the show-stopper at the horological event arguably has to be the Lady Arpels Ballerine Enchantée d'Orient watch, a timepiece created especially for the region.
Reflecting the strong relationship between the maison and the iconic Dubai Opera House, the stunning watch was inspired by the words of the great Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova, who said, "I've been dreaming that I was a ballerina, and that I was spending my whole life dancing as lightly as a butterfly." Guided by the quote, the watch showcases all that is associated with a ballerina – grace, beauty and fluidity.
More than a thematic watch, the timepiece displays the maison's savoir faire; a yellow gold case perfectly encircled with diamonds, a guilloche dial, intricate craftsmanship displayed through the green enamelling and most important of all, the subtle movements of the tutu on the champlevé enamel ballerina which, when moved upwards and downwards, blooms into the shape of a butterfly. The graceful movement can be appreciated through a simple click of the 'switch' on the case.
Apart from the Lady Arpels Ballerine Enchantée d'Orient, other highlights from Van Cleef & Arpels at SIHH 2017 include the Lady Arpels Jour Nuit Fée Ondine watch, the Lady Arpels Ronde des Papillons watch and Sweet Charms Pavée watch. Discover the new unveilings here...
