First look: Les Cometes de Chanel fine jewellery collection
For Christmas 2014
Of course well known for its game changing and iconic pearl creations, the house of Chanel has often played around with the symbolic stone and varied interpretations.
It was in 1932 when Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel first debuted a line of fine jewellery 'Bijoux de Diamants' for the women of Paris, claiming, "I want to cover women in constellations. Stars! Stars of all sizes!" having witnessed a comet in the city's night sky and declaring, "What could possibly be more eternally modern?"
The star and the comet would be privileged sources of inspiration for the designer to highlight the eternal beauty of women, and today the brand works with showers of stars in white gold, diamonds, pearls and black spinels, on a new fine jewellery collection that brings these eternal symbols to the forefront.
