First look: Cristina Ortiz
The former design director of Prada and Brioni branches out
After a substantial hiatus, famous Spanish designer Cristina Ortiz has returned to the limelight of the fashion world with a small collection of jewellery, to be presented in Paris in December.
Ortiz graduated from the esteemed fashion institute Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris before becoming known for her work as design director for the likes of Prada, Lanvin, Brioni and Salvatore Ferragamo. Now, she has decided to make the move into her own brand territory with a bespoke line of fine jewellery designs launching at Colette on Rue Saint-Honoré,
The collection is super graceful, with decorative elements reminiscent of angel wings, and some a little more mysterious. Elf-like long earrings, slightly more aggressive articulated rings and necklaces are offered in two versions: black with gold inlaid black diamonds and white gold with precious stones in classic shades.
It's already attracted international celebrities: Blake Lively being one of the first to be spotted sporting Cristina Ortiz earrings at a recent social event.
