Here's what you need to know about Max Mara's Resort 2020 show
Hello wardrobe staples
Max Mara took the fash pack to the Neues Museum in Berlin to highlight Creative Director Ian Griffiths' new Resort 2020 collection and to say it was full of achingly cool ensembles, would be an understatement.
It marked a momentous occasion for both the brand and the city as the show honoured the 30th anniversary year of the fall of the Wall. Plus, the collection itself was a tribute to ultimate heroes, David Bowie and Marlene Dietrich.
On the surface, the idea of a fashion collection inspired by both Dietrich and Bowie sounds almost unbearable. But with Bowie unarguably being fashion's king of self-invention, Griffiths eventually made it work.
Bowie and Dietrich shared a penchant for sharp shouldered suits, wide-legged trousers and tightly belted trench coats — and all three classics strikingly appeared in the collection.
The Resort 2020 range boasted a slew of sleek tailored pantsuits, sharp and constructed silhouettes, as well as a plethora of delectable coats in pure Max Mara tradition, including the Berlin coat.
The collection consisted of very wearable pieces that will eventually make it to our wardrobes and the colour palette alone is enough to fulfill our neutral options. The sandy, archaeological colour palette of whites, greys and beige are in sync with the museum and its interior.
