Reviving the '80s trend with the oversized leather jackets were Calvin Klein, Joseph and Michael Kors. As well, a new Fall/Winter '17 patent leather trend emerged, cut into trench coats, trousers and boots as seen on the Fendi and Narciso Rodriguez runway.

Velvet – one of the most used fabrics of the season – reappeared in several collections including Elisabetta Franchi, Alberta Ferretti, Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani. Whether embellished or layered against fierce fabrics, the shimmering material continued to make a bold statement.

Dipped metallics were omnipresent this season. While juxtaposed against colourful brights, muted chiffon and bold patterns, metallics are the go-to fabric to add that oomph to any look.
