The maison not only took us around the world but offered a collection that combined art and movement...

During Paris Fashion Week, Hermès presented its latest Autumn/Winter '21 collection as a cross-continental triptych that spanned from the Park Avenue Armory in New York to La Garde Républicaine in Paris and lastly, Maison Hermès in Shanghai. A common theme throughout all three? It was all about movement.

Kicking things off in New York, the first act was met with dancing as monochrome-dressed dancers gave us a preview of what to expect. In Paris, the full autumnal collection – crafted by the genius that is Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski – was showcased on models who were on the move and lastly, the final act in Shanghai delivered a combination of art and movement through fashion choreography.

The collection itself provided simplicity and sophistication with separates that make up an essential wardrobe – each piece embedded with extreme craftsmanship and elegance.

The construction of the clothes seemed like they were made to make a statement, without out-of-this-world prints and bright hues. Instead, the classic wardrobe such as denim, leather and knitwear were crafted in tailored jackets, sculptural shapes and assured silhouettes, and were then elevated through fabrics and minimal prints.

The overall collection offered a sense of calmness, almost offering us a reset button in response to the craziness of the current global state.
