Zooey Deschanel designs for Tommy Hilfiger
16-piece collection inspired by the sixties
New Girl star, Zooey Deschanel has proved she's got more up her sleeve than acting and singing skills, as she's moonlighted as fashion designer for a new collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger.
"There is a lot of red, white and blue, but done in a Zooey way with interesting detail and flirty fabrics. They are very Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy - really from the Sixties in London," Tommy Hilfiger reveals about the collection.
The 16-piece capsule collection, simply named, 'To Tommy, From Zooey', has been created by the duo who met through mutual friends - and both share a passion for vintage fashion. Hilfiger was so fascinated by the star's sense of humour and sophistication that he even compared her to Audrey Hepburn.
Deschanel, similarly speaks highly of Hilfiger, as she reveals: "Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations - old-school music, classic films and old Hollywood icons."
Keeping in line with her earthy character, Deschanel has named each of the pieces after her own friends - and will star in the advertising campaign for the collection herself.
14 of the dresses from the capsule range will be available at Macy's on April 14, before the whole collection will be on sale on Tommy.com a week later. The collection will be offered at an affordable price point, ranging from $98 to $199.
