Fashion rumour: Marco Zanini to depart from Schiaparelli

Creative director said to be unhappy

This morning reports have surfaced, saying that Marco Zanini is unhappy at the Diego Della Valle-owned heritage brand

The Tod's Group's chairman and CEO hired Zanini for the creative director role at the end of September last year, but according to sources, the 43-year-old designer feels that the design house "is not exactly his fit."

Zanini's first couture collection for Schiaparelli debuted to industry applause at Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week in January, and was exclusively stocked at Schiaparelli's Place Vendôme salon. The 'prêt-à-couture' collection was a wonderful dedication to the witty and innovative Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli herself, and the salon offered services similar to Schiaparelli's couture heyday.

Zanini previously held roles at Rochas, Versace, Halston, Dolce & Gabbana and Lawrence Steele. When WWD reached out to Zanini for a comment on the speculation that he is leaving the storied fashion house, Zanini replied that he does not comment on rumours. Schiaparelli officials could not be reached for comment.
