Yves Saint Lauren exhibition to launch in the UK this summer
Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal
"Fashion fades, style is eternal" – these immortal words from Yves Saint Laurent are resonating with the Bowes Museum, in Durham England, as it prepares to house an exhibition this summer, dedicated to the life and work of the French fashion designer, in partnership with the Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent Foundation. The exhibition is aptly titled Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal.
The exhibition claims to be the first in the UK to present a comprehensive display of the iconic French fashion designer's work and life. The Bowes Museum promises that the exhibition will highlight the defining elements of the designer's vision, and the significant influence it has had on fashion and the way we understand womenswear today.
Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal will present 50 YSL items, which will include some iconic pieces from the Russian collection, the Mondrian dresses and the tuxedo. It will inhabit much of the Museum's first floor, including the award-winning Fashion & Textiles Gallery, which has hosted high profile fashion exhibitions in the past, such as 'Vivienne Westwood Shoes' and Henry Poole & Co Tailoring.
The Bowes Museum has been an exhibitor of collections of European fine and decorative art since it opened at the start of the nineteenth century. Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal exhibition will be open July 11 – October 25 2015.
