The world's largest Urban Outfitters store opens
Situated in Herald Sqaure, Manhattan
The new concept store that spans across 57,000 square feet — more than twice the size of an average Urban Outfitters shop — located in Herald Square, and will stand as the largest Urban Outfitters store in the world.
Apart from selling usual items like clothing and books, the new lifestyle centre will feature an expanded beauty department that will house over 45 national and international brands, while Urban's new activewear concept 'Without Walls' — that occupies 3,000 square feet — will consists of 50% Urban apparel and 50% branded merchandise, such as New Line, Undefeated and more.
The mega-retailer will also have a 2,000-square-foot, full-service Heroine hair salon, occupying a portion of the first floor with its Los-Angeles based treatments.
For some light-snacking and an energy boost, Intelligentsia Coffee of Chicago will take 900 square feet of space on the ground level, and will have a separate entrance. While eyewear company Tortoise & Blonde will open its second shop in an Urban Outfitters location.
John Hauser, Chief Officer of Brand Experience at Urban Outfitters Inc. stated that additional large-format stores could open down the road, "We'll learn from this," adding, "If the customer loves it, we'll do more of them."
The Broadway flagship will also host an 800-square-foot vintage shop, an Instant Shop featuring all things retro like Polaroid cameras and Fuji film and a greatly expanded home section.
