Vivienne Westwood dresses dancers of Vienna State Ballet
A stylish Ballet
Performing on Wednesday, during the intermission of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's New Year's performance, the Vienna State Ballet will perform a short in head-to-toe Vivienne Westwood. Known for her rebellious designs - Westwood shows us a more romantic side to her aesthetic. Dancer Kathrin Menzinger will sport a customised version of Westwood's Moon dress - which appeared in Westwood's spring 2014 Gold Label show - while partner Vadim Garbuzov will look sharp in a black double-breasted jacket and silk pants.
A film of the ballet will also be previewed during the intermission, and will highlight a few more of Westwood's designs - expect to see a bird of paradise gown, and a collection of tartan mini skirts and bustiers dancing to the polka.
The designers husband - and creative director of Vivienne Westwood - explains, "I feel honoured that we were asked to design the costumes for the New Year's Concert ballet, as it holds such tradition for me. I grew up watching [it] every year, and it's become part of my Christmas memories."
This is not the first time we see Westwood collaborate with ballet companies - back in January the designer dressed the dancers of the English National Ballet for their spring season campaign - and the results were simply breathtaking.
