Victoria Beckham Cruise 2016

Victoria Beckham branches into Cruise with this 2016 collection that she says really fulfils the needs of the Victoria Beckham customer: “I really feel like I understand my customer. I understand what she wants and what she needs out of her wardrobe,” Beckham said. “It’s been great having the store at Dover Street to really get to know her more and more, so now feels like the right time to do this.” And what she wants, as evidenced by the collection is a mixture of signature sexy looks, mixed with easy to wear fashion.

Beckham is experimenting with shapes and cuts in a new way with this lineup that sees asymmetry come into play. Clever folds and wraps are the pervading essence of Cruise, which sees highlights in an asymmetrical fringed black cape, a red crape dress with graphic folds at the waist and and a black strapless evening dress with a wrap fold that also displays the subtle, single white floral motif that crops up elsewhere.

Zac Posen Cruise 2016

Zac Posen presents a romantic line up for Cruise 2016 inspired by the high-waisted, wide-legged pegged trousers looks from the forties. Some of the strongest looks came from this ideas-book, and tailoring was a strong suit for Posen in this lineup. Elsewhere, bold florals adorned dresses and coats in a whimsical throw-back nod. Silhouettes darted from sensual figure hugging gowns that trumpeted, to structured graphic bell skirts, full and resplendent.

Ralph Lauren Cruise 2016

Ralph Lauren appears to be elevating the bar for Cruise 2016, preferring to think of the collection as more akin to runway: “the detail of how we make it keeps it going up and up, the details, the luxury.” The palette was clean, based in whites, off-whites and camel tones with soft purple hues bouncing some brightness through the lineup. Chic longlines and luxe fabrics made the floor length and mid length dresses really shine with a confident serenity.
