New York Fashion Week: Victoria Beckham Spring/Summer 16
Flats fall anything but flat
The Spring/Summer 16 collection from Victoria Beckham, which debuted last night at New York's Cipriani Downtown, to an assortment of members from the Beckham clan (front row and in full support), shows yet more evolution from the British designer, who is well-loved by the industry. Continuing her migration away from the once stalwart hour-glass silhouette, this season shows signs of a more relaxed woman, comfortable in flats, dropped waists and shifts.
As the designer discusses her global commute between London and LA as well as her commitments – charitable and otherwise – in Asia, Africa and of course New York, she refutes that travel has influenced the collection but the breezy mobility of the designs suggests a hint of worldliness. Shapes take on a real fluidity this season as dresses and skirts flow and move with breezy ease.
Pattern makes a strong appearance with an upbeat effect. Tartan gets a lot of airtime in greens and reds but is always anchored with the brightness of white, keeping it light and spring-like. Surf motifs and prime colours appear elsewhere, lending a youthful glint to the lineup. Discover the collection in full via our gallery below...
