New York Fashion Week: Victoria Beckham Autumn/Winter 14

Timeless modernity

With little need to prove herself as a ‘serious’ designer any longer, Victoria Beckham presents her latest collection in New York with grace and panache

After a clutch of past collections being referenced in the press as by a 'developing' designer on the serious fashion week circuit, Victoria Beckham is enjoying a time of subtly validating her obvious talent. Showcasing a highly wearable and timelessly modern Autumn/Winter 14 edit yesterday, the former pop star used a single gold chain as the solo accessory in her show – replacing buttons, necklines, zips and even belts singlehandedly.

Tailoring was emphasised, it's her signature after all, but this time it seemed relaxed and feminine, with maxi skirts teamed with perfectly cut vests and draping that clings cleverly, labelled "paparazzi proof" by Beckham for being flattering from many angles and leading guests to  reminisce about the early days of Celine and Jil Sander

Match the above to another exclusive collaboration with Manolo Blahnik on runway shoes (chunky flats included) underneath looks that the designer "believes my customer feels and wants to dress" and that much talked about proof is in plain sight.
