New York Fashion Week: Vera Wang Autumn/Winter 15
Vera Wang took a hard line with her severe Autumn/Winter 15 collection. A dark gothic cloud took hold of her New York Fashion Week show and loomed ominously. But as the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining, and through the darkness of her almost exclusively black collection, which throws scatters of monochrome, Wang exuded strength and power in her unapologetically harsh collection.
With a seamless range of minimalism to the rawest of embellishment, several pieces shone out from the high-fashion concept collection, as versatile real life pieces, for the Vera Wang woman. A pretty and textured mid length coat, oversized Aaron knits and angular sleeved knit dresses, were among them. For the most part, the pieces were understated statements, if such a thing can be said, for there is no other way to put it. It is an elevated luxury take on the subversive. And the statement reads: Vera Wang is flexing her fashion muscle.
