Valentino and Rome go together like spaghetti and tomato sauce, they are the perfect couple – and intrinsically tied together. It's no surprise considering this, that the luxury Italian fashion house has opened a new flagship on the Piazza di Spagna, a.k.a. Rome's busiest and most famous street. Take a look inside here...

Valentino have unveiled its beautiful new Roman flagship on the Piazza di Spagna – one of the world's most busy and famous streets, just a stones throw from the iconic Spanish Steps and the Valentino HQ in Piazza Mignanelli.

“The boutique has a symbolic value, it’s in the most central square in Rome near our headquarters, and the city has always been a source of inspiration for us,” Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of the brand with Pierpaolo Piccioli, told WWD. The new flagship quietly opened over Easter, and will enjoy its formal celebratory party when Valentino host its Haute Couture show in Rome on July 9 later this summer. “It’s like we are finally inviting everyone to our own home,” Chiuri said, acknowledging the fact that the show usually takes place in Paris.

“This is a very important opening with a strategic relevance after our units in Hong Kong and New York, the two world capitals of consumer spending,” Valentino CEO Stefano Sassi added. “Piazza di Spagna has an ulterior meaning, as it is the reference city of the brand and of Chiuri and Piccioli, and a source of inspiration for them.”

The new store is spread over 15,876 square feet, and marks an evolution of the store concept created by Valentino creative directors Chiuri and Piccioli with architect David Chipperfield, first unveiled in Milan’s Via Montenapoleone in 2012. Take a look inside via the gallery below.
